Motion to Reopen Granted

Although she had temporary protection under TPS, Juana* had a deportation order hanging over her head because she’d missed a court hearing over a decade ago. With the President threatening to end the TPS program, she came to us to see what she could do about the deportation order. Attorney Blumenthal’s Motion to Reopen with supporting exhibits was almost 200 pages long, and it paid off! She successfully presented a case to the Judge showing that the client had never received notice of that hearing so long ago, was facing a worsening political situation in her country and that the client could be eligible for permanent status. The judge granted the motion reopening the proceedings and Juana has a chance to present her cases for Asylum and Cancellation of Removal so she can ultimately remain in the United States with her friends and family permanently.
