Attorney Weronika Costas obtained a National Interest Waiver and Green Card for Lena*, a Polish researcher and her husband and son. To get the National Interest Waiver we had to persuasively demonstrate that Lena* works in a area of substantial intrinsic merit in the United States, and that her continued research would greatly benefit the nation as a whole. It took USCIS a year to approve the Waiver, and another 6 months to approve the green cards, but now this family is able to stay and work in the U.S. permanently and continue contributing to our research community.
