Born, raised and killed in Guatemala, this is the story of Luis* and 3 of his children. Luis* had been approached by the criminal organization the Mendoza family. They wanted Luis* to join them, but Luis* refused. In order to intimidate and threat Luis*, the criminal organization killed 3 of his children and eventually killed Luis*. Camilo* and Juan*, two of the sons of Luis were in the United States when their father was killed. A couple of years later, Camilo* lost his asylum case and was deported to Guatemala where, he was stabbed by a member of the Mendoza family. Camilo* returned to the United States, and got detained by ICE. He then hired The Costas Network to represent him. Attorney Bhagat requested that the Asylum Office schedule Camilo* for a reasonable fear interview. The Asylum Officer found that Camilo* had no reasonable fear of persecution. Attorney Bhagat did not accept the finding, and requested that Camilo*’s case be reviewed by an immigration judge, who not only vacated the decision of the Asylum Officer but also allowed Camilo to defend himself during an immigration court hearing. Attorney Bhagat then worked expensively with Camilo*’s family and obtained evidence to make his case as strong as possible. A few months later, Attorney Bhagat won Camilo’s case in Cleveland OH Immigration Court. Meanwhile, Juan was being detained for re-entering the United States after being deported. Both Camilo* and Juan* preferred to be detained in the United States versus being dead in Guatemala. Attorney Bhagat was hired to represent Juan*. Juan*’s case was held at the Miami FL Immigration Court. Attorney Bhagat won Juan*’s case as well. Now Camilo* and Juan* can both live and work legally in the United States, far away from the danger that hunted them in Guatemala.
Every year, thousands of people attempt to enter the United States to give a deceased family member afinal visit before their burial or receive care
